This Public Meeting on Broadband Delivery in East Ayrshire has been arranged by Alan Brown MP in reply to the large amount of constituent queries and enquiries by local businesses.
With the advent of modern technology and digital communication, superfast fibre optic broadband is becoming increasingly essential for individuals and businesses alike. Many people are now required to fill out forms online to access Health or Social Security Services. Businesses also need to fill out self assessed tax returns and find they are at a competitive disadvantage if they do not have access to a reliable internet connection.
With Ofcom's recent announcement that a restructure of Openreach is required to improve competition and investment in infrastructure this meeting is both opportune and relevant to people in Kilmarnock and Loudoun.
We will have representatives from BT, Digital Scotland, East Ayrshire Council and the Federation of Small Businesses attending who will give a short speech and then take questions from the audience, chaired by Alan Brown MP.
