Description

New cyber challenges for the public sector

*** This event is free to attend for the public sector ***

Advances in the internet of things, big data and artificial intelligence are creating immense potential for better public services; but they all come with new risks, especially with the growing array of internet connected devices and new sources of data. Cyber attackers can find new weak points and vulnerabilities, posing a serious threat to the data integrity and operational capabilities of public authorities.

As organisations adopt the new technologies they will face new challenges in cyber security. This will be the focus of UKAuthority’s conference, to take place in London on 20 September 2018, asking questions about what new threats will emerge from the IoT, big data and AI, and exploring the strategies for providing protection and long term resilience.

This is a crucial area that will affect the future of every public sector organisation, and the event will provide a valuable opportunity to learn, discuss the issues and begin to develop or refine your own strategy.

Speakers include:

  • Stephen Baker - Chief Executive for Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils
  • William Barker - Head of National Cyber Security Programme – Local, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
  • John Jackson - CEO, London Grid for Learning
  • Siobhan Coughlan - Programme Manager, LGA
  • Steve Kennett - Security Director, Jisc
  • Commander Pete O'Doherty - NPCC Lead for Economic Crime / City of London Police

Further confirmed speakers and a full agenda will be announced shortly.
