Public Speaking for Beginners 5-week course £110
Fri 28 April 2017, 18:30 – 21:30 BST
Extremenly suitable for those with a fear / phobia of public speaking and for those with social anxiety
This session will be divided into two sections. The first two hours will be dedicated mainly to beginners and everyone in general. The last hour will be dedicated to help people develop their leadership skills. More information on this to follow.
A Program to help you develop your confidence and Leadership skills in the New Year. Practise based and especially suitable for beginners. A brief history about us: We trained the trainers of most popular public speaking groups on Meetup and we have been running for over 2 years. Our focus is on progress and practice and not on making profit. We do not make money out of your vulnerabilities. Our goal for the New Year is to help at least 200 people overcome their fear of public speaking. This course is our first step in achieving this goal. Since 2014, we have been running weekly (and sometimes twice weekly) public speaking sessions / courses in London. We also have a group in Norwich.
Note: This is not one of those courses where everyone else seems to be what they are doing and you don't know what is going on! 90% of the people come to our courses on their own and they are naturally anxious. We will actively work with every single person to make sure they achieve their goals.
Spaces are limited and we cannot accept any more people once the programme is fully booked.
This programme is also advertised on other platforms, so places might go fast.
Price for a similar course from other providers would be £150 or even more. Number of attendees: We cannot guarantee how many will attend every week but we will accept a maximum of 25. This means, for a single session, you could expect around 15 attendees. We will only get around 15 people per meeting as not everyone attends every week.
The first session will be on the 28thth April (Friday) from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
This will repeat for 5 weeks, with the final session being on the 26th of May 2017. This course is offered to you by Rise...
Our goal is to help people overcome their fear of public speaking so they can voice their views without any fear. You can view more about our courses via http://www.risetutors.co.uk/about.html - please see the middle column for our past course brochures. Extremely suitable for those with a social anxiety and general anxiety.
- Suitable for Beginners
- For those with an extreme phobia of public speaking / people, we will have a mentor closely working with you providing individual feedback, guidance and encouragement.
- Each one of you will get to coach the group to help develop your leadership skills (as long as you are interested). This way, you will learn how to lead a group.
- Practise your speaking skills while refining each aspect of public speaking
- Learn how to present using PowerPoint
Skills we will be working on: Communication, Leadership, Public speaking
Please note that this course is suitable for beginners - this means we will not expect you to be experts. However, you may join this course even if you do not consider yourself to be a beginner. You will still be doing the activities aimed at beginners as the focus is on those who don't have any / much public speaking experience.
The sessions will be held in the room A108 of the Regent's Park Campus. More information can be found on http://www.regents.ac.uk/about/contact-us/how-to-find-us.aspx.
Please try to arrive at 6.20 for a prompt 6.30 start. P.S. If the link on meetup, redirects you to a wrong location, please simply find Regents uni and then ask security staff. It is very easy to find as it is Regent's Park! Trainer
All of our trainers are experienced in the field of Public Speaking and we have an amazing team working hard to ensure that we work as one to provide you with the best training possible. Ntosh has experience teaching communication skills at university level and teaching national level programs to groups of more than 300 people. He has also been a member of the Toastmasters international public speaking organization for more than 5 years. We try to ensure the same trainer conducts the entire course. Occasionally this may not be the case and we will inform you if there is ever going to be a change.
Perfecting your Public Speaking
For most of you, the main focus of this programme will be to help you overcome your fears, phobia (extreme fear which is very common) and anxiety associated with public speaking. Once we get past the initial anxious stage, we will focus on perfecting the different aspects of public speaking, including but not limited to:
- Voice Projection
- Variation in tone and volume
- Body language
- Eye contact
- Use of stage space
- Structure including beginning, body and ending
You are encouraged to attend at least 80% of the sessions to gain maximum benefit.
You can pay for the course via Meetup. Please click RSVP Yes first and then you will be directed to a payments page. If for any reason, this doesn’t work, do get in touch with us and we will arrange for an alternative method to accept payment such as bank transfer. The price for the entire program (5 weeks, 5 sessions, 15 hours) is only £90 if you pay by the 14th April. After that, it will go up to £110.
You can also attend sessions of this course on a Pay as You go Basis. However, it would cost you £20 per session (this may increase weekly). We will only offer pay as you go tickets if we have spaces available. The reason why we would offer places on a pay as you go basis is to ensure there is a healthy number of people per session as this is a public speaking course and without at least 15 people, there wouldn't much of a "Public" speaking experience! Each week we get around 6 people who are not able to make it either due to sickness or work running late, etc.
Once tickets are purchased, we will not be able to refund the ticket fee unless the sessions get canceled. Please purchase the ticket bearing this in mind as we'd hate to disappoint you if you were to request us for a refund.
