Public Speaking & Self-advocacy workshop
About this event
Public speaking doesn’t come easily to everyone – but it is a skill that can be developed like any other. This workshop explores the barriers to speaking with confidence in a public setting, particularly when the subject is yourself. The session uses games and exercises to help practice skills for overcoming these challenges, with a focus on how self-esteem and mindfulness can help empower you to raise your voice in multiple settings.
Fiona has worked for various charities teaching debating and public speaking as a vehicle for confidence-building, and was a champion debater at university. In this workshop she draws on her own experiences with mental ill health and the parallels she’s found between managing anxiety and preparing for speeches.
