Event description

Description

An exciting new evening programme for anyone who needs to speak in front of an audience!

"This is the best course I have ever been on" Brian M.

TV and stage actor Richard James (Great Expectations, Doctors, Eastenders) is taking a break from his UK tour with David Walliams' Awful Auntie to run a series of four evening workshops on public speaking. Richard has teamed up with renowned communications coach, Justin McCarthy, to deliver a unique and exciting evening programme aimed to help even the most timid public speaker "SPEAK OUT" in front of an audience.

Richard and Justin are a well established team, having built an enviable reputation as world class trainers among some of the UK's top organisations. Their client list reads like a Who's Who, including organisations such as Sky, HSBC, Save the Children, NHS, Prudential and many others. This is the first time this programme has been offered as an open course.

"I'm thrilled to be working with Justin on such an exciting programme" says Richard. "We work hard to give sales teams and senior executives the skills to be world class presenters, so it is a real pleasure to be running an open course for the first time where everyone is invited."

"I've got more out of today than any other comparable course" Mark E.

But this is not just a presenting skills course. Justin explains:

"There are plenty of courses out there if you want to learn normal presentation skills. The problem with most of them is that they teach you how to use tools like Powerpoint. We believe that is completely wrong. YOU are the presentation. The rest is just technical support. We start with the whole person - the body, the voice, language, movement - everything you need to engage, excite and inspire an audience, whether you are giving a speech at a wedding, presenting a sales pitch, or speaking in front of 2000 people at a conference"

I think the whole voice thing is just mind blowing!" Richard C.

Programme structure

This programme is spread over two evenings, each 2.5 hours long.

Part 1 gives you an insight into how actors build their voice and body confidence so that they can walk onto a stage and mesmerise the audience. You will learn the secrets taught in stage schools and learn how stand up and speak so that others listen. In addition, we will explore some great speakers, like Martin Luther King, to understand how they moved an audience, and learn to apply the same techniques to our own speech or presentation:

Self-Assessment: A checklist and revision tool for the workshop.
Confidence and Nerves: How we recognise confidence and why we get nervous.
Your Voice - a User Guide: The mechanics of the voice and how to warm up.
Building Vocal Skills: Exercises for developing a powerful and engaging voice.
Using Influential Language: How to speak so others remember what you say.
Standing Your Ground: Posture and movement to win and maintain attention.
The Power of Gestures: What to do with your hands!

You will also get a really useful manual with summaries, tips and notes for you to keep.

Part 2 (two dates available: 15 May and 17 July), consolidates everything you learnt in Part 1 and then takes you to the next level, expanding on your skills in front of an audience. You will learn how to build and deliver an outstanding presentation, how to work with visuals, storytelling techniques, tricks to speak 'off the cuff', and much more.

Credibility and Status: How to be authentic and manage your status.
Engaging your Audience: It's all about connection, attention and story.
Structuring for Impact: How to make an entrance and leave with impact.
Working with Visual Aids: Blowing apart the myths and mistakes.
The MASTERY Process: A unique approach to creating outstanding presentations.
Dealing with Pressure: What to do when things go wrong.
Handling Questions: Control, confidence and charisma.

"Thank you - I will never forget this" John J.

No prior experience in front of an audience is needed yet many participants come with years of experience speaking in front of an audience and leave with a totally new outlook.

We really hope that you can join us at this unique event!
