Description

We are leaving the exhibition up a little while longer for this special event.

Join the Archive and Library department of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art for a lunchtime talk at the Keiller Library by Allan Madden on his exhibition, Publishing Surrealism: Roland Penrose's Library.

Patron, collector, theorist, and friend to many surrealist artists, Roland Penrose played a vital role in the publication of Max Ernst’s Une Semaine de Bonté by gallerist Jeanne Bucher in 1934, and his personal library contains many outstanding examples of fine art publishing. This exhibition draws on Penrose’s own collection to illuminate the importance of publishing within the Surrealist movement.

Allan will talk about the exhibition, the material on display and will be on hand to answer some of your questions.
