About this event

Hello,

My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 28 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.

This workshop is designed to be a relaxed, friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. During the day, you’ll learn how to create your own charming pumpkin and toadstool sculptures using traditional hand-building techniques. You’ll also discover how to bring your pieces to life with coloured decorating slips. If you’d like, you can transform your sculptures into tea light holders, adding a warm, magical glow to your finished work.

All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch, an apron or wear old clothes and trim any long nails.

After the workshop, I will carefully take your sculptures home and will fire them in my kiln. I will glaze your work by hand with transparent glaze, which will enhance the colour. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection 6 weeks after the workshop finishes from the Walronds. I will let you know the time and date for collection.

There is FREE parking at the Walronds. The carpark is located at the back of the building. To access the carpark you will need to turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street, and then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It is a narrow lane and easily missed. Drive a few yards up the lane and you will see the sign for the carpark on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead. Here is a link to Google Maps which should take you right to the carpark entrance. https://goo.gl/maps/JKfioUFi3FCSnCHJ9
