Hello,
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 26 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.
This workshop is designed to be a relaxed, friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. During the first part of the workshop you will learn how to design and make your own beautiful pumpkin using traditional hand-building techniques. During the second part of the workshop you will learn how to decorate your pumpkin using coloured decorating slips.
All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the morning. The only thing you need to bring is an apron or wear old clothes.
After the workshop, I will carefully take your pumpkins home and will fire them in my kiln. I will glaze your work by hand with transparent glaze, which will enhance the colour. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection approximately 6 weeks after the workshop finishes. I will let you know the date for collection.
There is no parking at Nancy Potter House. The nearest Pay and Display Carpark is The Lord Nelson.
