Puppets and Prosecco - Meet the Once Upon a Gosport Puppets and Team
Overview
The Once Upon a Gosport project celebrates Gosport’s unique history through storytelling and puppetry thanks to the Hampshire Cultural Trust's Heritage Generator Grants programme funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Together with the community, we created set of puppet characters inspired by Gosport’s past. Each puppet is paired with an illustrated storybook, carrying positive messages such as resilience, innovation, and sustainability. Packed into a portable heritage crate, these resources can be booked for FREE and travel to local schools, home- educators, and youth groups, giving children the chance to explore Gosport’s heritage in a fun, creative, and hands-on way.
Our Puppets and Prosecco night is a chance for you as an educator, creator, volunteer or supporter to come along, meet the puppets, see the resources, learn more and CELEBRATE before the puppets and resoruces go out to schools. :)
6pm - Arrival, drinks, snacks and open networking
6.30pm - Preview of puppet interviews/stories, explaining the resources, including how to book.
7.15pm - Meet the creators (Sally Presig and Richard Oakes)
7.45pm - Open networking
8pm - Close
By connecting history with imagination, the project will help young people feel proud of their town while supporting teachers and families with engaging, ready-to-use resources.
