Purpose: the future of business or just empty virtue-signalling?
Event Information
Description
Talk of Purpose is now awash in Boardrooms. But, is it simply talk and nothing less? CSR dressed up in a new, trendy name? Doing the minimum, but saying the maximum, to signal ethical behaviour?
Or is it, as people as varied as Larry Fink, CEO of Blackrock and Paul Polman, departing CEO of Unilever, believe, the new and necessary DNA for modern businesses? Can it combine commercial success with positive societal impact?
This event examines these issues via an interactive debate.
The speakers are:
David Hieatt: the founder of Howies, Hiut Denim and The Do Lectures. He is an expert on fashion, retail, sustainability and branding and has written a book called “Do Purpose” subtitled “Why brands with a Purpose do better and matter more”.
Simon Coley: creative brain behind New Zealand’s fastest growing company; Powershop and the All Good brand of ethical and organic products including Karma Cola. Simon cut his teeth working as a designer and creative director for organisations ranging from Greenpeace to The Economist and has worked as a designer, creative director and marketing specialist around the globe.
The session is facilitated by Jeff Macdonald and Paul Twivy, RSA Fellows and Purpose Specialists.
The event is free with complimentary drinks and breakfast.
