Q&A with Jason Wilsher-Mills
Event Information
About this Event
Earlier this year, disabled digital artist Jason Wilsher-Mills worked with two London SEND settings – Woodfield School and The Garden School – to explore the theme of 'Power' for A New Direction's I Am At Tate Exchange Festival. While sadly the festival at Tate was unable to go ahead due to coronavirus, we're now pleased to offer this virtual event as part of the re-worked I Am At Home Festival.
Join Lynne Brackley, Creative Producer of the I Am Festival, as she talks to Jason about the work he created with young people for the festival, his creative process, and his amazing new inflatable sculpture project Jason & his Argonauts. Attendees will also have the oppotunity to ask Jason any questions.
About Jason Wilsher-Mills
After studying Fine Art and initially specialising in traditional painting techniques, Jason has in recent years focused on using digital painting using technology such as iPad and Wacom tablets.
The use of these technologies in place of the more traditional artistic mediums came about through the convenience and accessibility of tablets which allow him to produce large scale, detailed paintings despite the physical challenges presented by his disability.
Jason has now ‘truly embraced the pixel’ and creates fully interactive sculptures, 3D prints and lightboxes, using augmented reality technology. The latest of these is the Arts Council England funded ‘Corby Totems’ residency, in which Jason has worked closely with the learning disabled communities of Corby, to create 2 new sculptures, which will be unveiled in November 2018.
