QinetiQ Industry Powerboat Challenge 2025

The QinetiQ Industry Powerboat Challenge is back and in the QinetiQ Ocean Basin!

The Powerboat Challenge is an opportunity for your team of up to five to design and build a radio-controlled model powerboat. You will then come to QinetiQ Haslar to race your model against others in the industry in QinetiQ’s large Ocean Basin facility.

QinetiQ is a leading global defence and security business, the maritime division is involved in a wide range of marine projects providing specialist advice on all aspects of design throughout the life cycle of a vessel.

There will a number of awards presented on the day and in addition the winning team will be invited to return the next day to demonstrate their design to secondary school students at the Schools' Powerboat Challenge. This will give the students a unique insight into how they could have improved on their designs.

We will share a rule pack after sign up closes which contains information about the course, hardware options and other design limits to ensure even competition between the teams.

Please note that by signing up for this event you agree/acknowledge the following:

• Min of 1 primary contact for the team who can respond to emails and communications from the event.
• A max of 5 team members will attend the event on the day.
• Are available to attend the event.
• Travel to QinetiQ Haslar on the day will not be organised by QinetiQ.
• QinetiQ require the filling out of visitor forms (distributed after sign up). Without a signed form 1 week before the event we cannot accept the team on site.
