Event description

Description

Welcome to the first Mapathon of the new QM Youthmappers group set up by the QMUL Geography Society.

YouthMapppers (https://www.youthmappers.org) is an international network of university based groups who respond to the need of humanitiarian, disaster relief and development organizations for accurate detailed maps of areas where people vulnerable or in immediate need of help. Youthmappers use open source mapping software and help create digital OpenStreetMaps that are vital to humanitarian relief efforts for addressing development challenges.

By getting involved you are directly helping to map the most crisis-prone parts of the developing world.

This event is also part of the OpenStreetMap Geography Awareness Week
Nov 11-17, 2018: http://osmgeoweek.org

With your help we can directly improve the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. We will be working on high-priority mapping projects requested by the Red Cross and MSF. You do not need to have any mapping experience to take part. Guidance will be provided and well as pizza and nibbles.
