Quality failures make the headlines all too frequently. Just this year, Hampshire police have allocated £1 million to improve a “shambolic” finance and management system and Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler and Renault have all been in the news accused of emissions cheating. The loss of reputation that this brings and the damage to brand is devastating.
Citing these very public quality failures, the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is vocal in the need for quality to be at the heart of every organisation. In support of this the CQI’s Competency Framework integrates quality with business management and calls for both to be driven by an organisation’s strategy. Indeed the focus of ISO 9001:2015 is also to support this approach.

This presentation explains how, examines some of the cultural challenges that comes with putting quality at the heart of every organisation and explores how they can be overcome with the 3 U’s approach to developing management systems.
The Speaker: Michael Cousins
Michael founded Triaster in 1994 and remains its Managing Director. It has been his vision that has driven the Triaster platform to support process mapping and process management as business as usual and he is the originator of the Noun-Verb Method that underpins this. Michael is a Chartered Quality Professional, a Fellow of the Chartered Quality Institute and a Doctor of Mathematics. He is a regular speaker at Quality and Improvement events and regularly writes on the subjects. His special interests include Software Quality Assurance and software tools that bring processes within the reach of everyone within an organisation.
