Description

‘Quality in Diversity’ is a well-established framework designed to enable early years practitioners to think about, understand, support and extend the learning of young children from birth to the age of eight. It builds on the expertise and experience of people working in a wide range of settings, in order to create a shared language to deepen their understanding of how young children learn. It aims to unify and consolidate the strengths of diverse settings and approaches.

The aims are:

  • To explore the underlying principles and the five foundations.
  • To identify the conditions children need to thrive.
  • To identify the elements of excellence and to plan for future developments.

The day will provide a range of opportunities to engage with colleagues from varying backgrounds via discussion, reflection and evaluation. Delegates will be provided with a hard copy of ‘Quality in Diversity’ and a set of training materials for use in dissemination.

Trainers:

Anne Nelson has worked as an early years teacher, a primary head and a local authority adviser and head of Early Years and Childcare in an LA. She was Chief Executive of Early Education (BAECE) until March 2009. Anne is Chair of Trustees of the Centre for Early Childhood (CREC), a governor of a nursery school and a member of the steering group of the Early Childhood Forum (ECF.)

Kathryn Solly is currently a specialist early years speaker, consultant, trainer and author working with the whole sector. She was the Headteacher of Chelsea Open Air Nursery School and Children’s Centre for 17 years. She has enjoyed a diverse career across all phases of education and around the world. She also works for several educational charities e.g. National Association for Small Schools (NASS) and is a steering group member of the Early Childhood Forum. (ECF)

Who should attend?

Headteachers/senior managers of schools and settings, Foundation Stage leaders, lecturers, Local Authority advisors, independent Early Years consultants and trainers.
