The river Bollin sits at the heart of Quarry Bank, turning the wheel of the mill that played an integral part in the Manchester Industrial Revolution. To improve riverland habitat here we are restoring 11 ponds, creating one new pond, improving 1,300m of the Bollin and restoring around 1,400m of tributaries to the watercourse.

Join us on the day of our Quarry Bank Bioblitz for a guided nature walk led by Dave Winnard of Discover the Wild! We will be exploring Quarry Bank to seek out and learn about the flora and fauna of the park as part of our Bioblitz event.

This event will run for approximately 2 hours from 11:00am - 1:00pm and we will be meeting at the Meadow across the bridge from the mill.

Quarry Bank has free parking for visitors & access to the meadow and woodland where the event will take place is also free.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear with ankle support. This event is outdoors so make sure you have waterproofs, warm layers and/or sun protection as needed. Please also make sure you bring enough water and snacks to keep you going throughout the activity.

This is a family friendly event, however children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Dogs are also welcome, provided they are kept on lead or under control at all times so as not to frighten away wildlife!

This event is unsuitable for those with limited mobility as it will take place within the woodland at Quarry Bank and features steps, soft ground and steep terrain.

If you book and can no longer make it please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the space available for someone else.

Please note, as this event takes place in a wooded area, if wind speeds or gusts become an issue on the day, we will cancel the event in the interest of health and safety.
