About this event
Slowing Down in Urgent Times: A Conversation on Rest, Healing, and Justice
In a world that urges us to push through, what does it mean to slow down — not as escape, but as resistance? Join us for a conversation on trauma-informed care, healing, and rest for WOC and BIPOC allies.
Together, we’ll explore frameworks and practices of rest and collective care as sustainable resistance during uncertain times. This session will offer a brief overview of the politics of trauma and the body, as well as body-centered practices to reclaim rest and build individual and community resilience.
Come as you are. Bring tea, a journal, or simply your breath.
Please note that this meetup is for Women of Colour only, and that it is tailored to the realities of historical and intergenerational trauma and women-led activism.

Frequently asked questions
Each meetup is made up of three sections: 1. A fun and informal opportunity to connect and network with others, 2. A guest speaker and fellow WOC will present on the quarter’s theme, and 3. An interactive session will invite attendees to reflect, share, and brainstorm ideas.
Thousand&One will facilitate community meetups every quarter, with a total of four meetups every year. Dates will vary depending on the availability of our collaborators and members.
The meetup structure, including each theme, has been codesigned with our community. Our members voted on the themes they’d like us to cover, and we will continue to collect feedback after each meetup, and ensure that themes are driven by our community's needs.
Thousand&One’s offerings cater specifially to women of colour. Our community, however, is made up of allies and practitioners who don’t identify as women of colour. They are welcome to join!
Although community meetups are not free to attend, we are mindful of ensuring no one is left behind. Our affordable rates ensure that events are accessible to our community, while also striving for sustainable practices that can pay our speakers for their time and expertise.
Meetups might be recorded, as recordings are valuable to T&O as assets to use in the future. However, due to privacy concerns and sensitive conversations, we will not distribute it afterwards. and will only share if attendees specifically request it.
