About this event

Queen Margaret: How Much Did Shakespeare Get Right?

Shakespeare wrote more lines for Margaret of Anjou than King Lear, albeit across four plays (Henry VI trilogy, and Richard III), but how much of what he wrote about her was accurate?

In this 1 hour live stream, we will delve a bit into the history of the real Margaret of Anjou, and discuss how she differs from the character we see in Shakespeare, and in Jeanie O'Hare 2018 play, Queen Margaret. There will be the opportunity for a question and answer session at the end.

Downpour Theatre Company is a performing arts production company based in the South Gloucestershire and Bristol area, performing across the south west.

Originally founded in 2016, to stage a one off Shakespeare production, our first show was an open air performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream , performed in the beautiful Victorian Walled Garden at Old Down Country Park. In the wake of the unexpected success of our debut production, Downpour has gone from strength to strength, and we now perform up to 4 shows per year, including storytelling events for children, bespoke Christmas pantomimes, and of course plenty of our first loves, Shakespeare and open air theatre.
