Since 1979, Question Time has been the BBC’s flagship political debate programme and invites a studio audience to quiz leading politicians, journalists and public figures about the most pressing events of the day. To mark the end of Welcome Week, the School of Society and Environment is hosting its own version of Question Time!
The legendary broadcaster and former host of Radio 4’s The Westminster Hour Carolyn Quinn will be in the chair and will be joined by a stellar panel of journalists and academics. Stephen Bush (the associate editor at the Financial Times, who was awarded an honorary degree by QMUL in 2022); Dr Tony McNulty (a Labour former MP and New Labour minister-turned academic) and Professor Sophie Harman (the expert on global health) have all agreed to take part.
How has British politics changed since Labour's election last July? What will this autumn's Budget mean for the public finances and will Rachel Reeves be forced to increase taxes? Will 2026 see a revival of the Conservative Party's fortunes or will Tory MPs replace Kemi Badenoch?
