Queens Commonwealth Baton - A celebration for Volunteers
Date and time
A celebration for Volunteers in sport and physical activity!
About this event
We would like to invite you to join us on Friday 10 June 2022, from 11:00 – 12:30, at the FB Fields to thank you for all the volunteering you do in local sport and physical activity, and to celebrate the arrival of the Queens Commonwealth Baton in Jersey.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games are staging the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay – an epic journey across the Commonwealth, with The Queen’s Baton visiting all 72 nations and territories. The Relay began on 7 October 2021, with Her Majesty The Queen placing her Message to the Commonwealth into the Baton. The Baton is now on its 294-day long journey to every corner of the Commonwealth - and you will be able to hold and have your photograph taken with the Baton at the FB Fields on 10 June!
We are extremely fortunate that the Baton will be visiting us and so we would like to use this opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of all our local sports and physical activity volunteers, as we know volunteers are the backbone of every sporting organisation, team, or sportsperson.
We will be offering refreshments and the chance to have your photo taken with the Baton during the celebration, plus there will be plenty of opportunity to network and meet our Jersey Sport Team. We would also like to encourage you to actively travel to the event – on foot, bicycle or by bus.
If you would like to join us, please register your details before Wednesday 8 June.
