Are you a queer architectural worker? Come and hear about the design and construction of the LGBTQ+ Centre, with designer Martha Summers
About this event
What role do queer people play in making space? What issues do queer architectural workers face in the studio? University? Construction site? How does the design of space respond to and reproduce straight, cis, (able-bodied, white, patriarchal, white, middle-class) power structures?
Come along to hear Martha Summers, designer of the LGBTQ+ Community Centre Pop Up, speak about the space.
The London LGBTQ+ Centre is a safe, sober, intersectional community centre and café created through grass-roots organising. Its current home is a temporary proof of concept before a permanent home is created.
All queer architectural workers (+ friends) welcome.
About the organiser:
Aska (they/them) is an architectural worker, using textile sculpture, community-based research, experimental fiction and labour organising to examine and interrupt the capitalist/ racist/ heteronormative processes which shape our physical environment.
Accessibility:
The Centre's accessibility statement is here.
Covid-19 safety:
To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors take a Covid test before coming to the Centre and to not come if you’re feeling unwell. Please wear a mask unless exempt.
