Queer Christmas Singaround Via Zoom
Overview
At this cosy festive singaround, have a chance to share festive songs and stories and sing along to classic christmas tunes.
How it works
this session will run like a cross between a singaround, and sing along session. You’re invited to share something with the group — this could be:
- a Christmas or winter-themed song
- a festive poem
- a seasonal tune
- a short piece of writing or reflection
In recognition of the diverse experiences within our community, we ask that contributions don’t include religious material, as this may be difficult for some attendees.
To make sure everyone gets a turn, each contribution should be no longer than 6 minutes (including introductions).
Alongside individual sharings, there will also be moments for group singalongs. Maddie will share some well-known Christmas tunes, and you’ll be invited to sing along with your microphone off — perfect if you want to join in without performing solo.
About the facilitator
The club is hosted by Maddie Morris (they/them), winner of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and a touring musician from Leeds. Maddie created this space out of a love for folk clubs, and a hope to make the joy and connection that they associate with going to folk clubs more accsessible to other neurodivergent, disabled and LGBTQ+ individuals.
You can listen to Maddie’s music and find out more about their work here.
