Event description

Description

Thomas Pestell was the Vicar of Packington during the 1640s, the turbulent period of the English Civil Wars. As a prominent Royalist, things did not go well for him when the Parliamentarians gained the upper hand. Local Heritage Group Pudding Bag Productions have brought his story to life on film in a new drama which has involved a number of local people including children from Packington Primary School.

This film night will also feature three other films made by Pudding Bag Productions, "A Step on the Ladder," a drama which commemorates the December General Election, the first in which women over 30 could vote, "The Ferrers Murder" the story of how the 4th Earl Ferrers of Staunton Harold Hall murdered his steward in 1760, enacted by the children of Grace Dieu Manor School and a filmed and illustrated interview with Anthony Harris, CEO of Pat Collins Fairs who talks about his family's long association with Ashby Statutes.
