About this Event

It goes without saying, we’re obsessed with cheese. Not just any cheese, the kind that’s made with quality ingredients and the care and attention of a dedicated team of experts. We know we’re not alone, but it can often be daunting navigating your way through the vast varieties of cheese available. This is where we’re here to help.

In 2013, Mary Quicke approached the Guild of Fine Food to look at developing a professional cheese qualification in the UK, inspired by the Certified Cheese Professional qualification run by the American Cheese Society. Four years later, the Academy of Cheese officially launched, aiming to de-mystify the world of cheese, both within the industry and amongst the wider cheese loving community. For the industry, the qualification offers career development and the opportunity to work towards the highly qualified and industry accredited role of 'Master of Cheese'. For cheese lovers, it’s a chance to indulge your passion and impress your friends and family with the knowledge you have gained.

Sam Wilkin, Head Cheesemonger for The Cheese Bar Group and long-term supporter and friend of Quicke’s, takes you on a journey from the comfort of your home, exploring everything from how cheese is made and how to taste like a pro to the history of cheese and the perfect drinks pairings. We’ll bring the unique Quicke’s Experience to you through film, from our lush Devon pastures and expertly bred cows to our heritage starters and hand cheddared, clothbound cheese. Most importantly you’ll get to taste a whole variety of cheeses, including our own, and discover new favourites.

The course has been tailored specifically for online learning making it accessible to both UK and overseas delegates. The sessions will be fun, interactive and packed with information.

In order to complete the course you must be able to attend both dates on Zoom ( a Zoom link will be sent once booked).

What’s included?

Two, two and a half hour webinars, taught by Sam Wilkin

10 cheeses delivered to your home by an award-winning cheesemonger are they award-winning? (only for UK delegates who sign up for the full-price course). For delegates who prefer to source their own cheese and/or are based overseas, the course can be purchased without the cheese delivery option at a reduced rate at the checkout.

The Academy of Cheese Delegates’ pack (pdf format for overseas participants). This includes the Level 1: 25 Cheese Profiles Book and Cheese Tasting Sheets.

12 month’s subscription to the Academy of Cheese to complete your training.

Access to the Academy of Cheese Level 1 online knowledge base, study materials and Cheese Library.

The Level One Exam.

Upon successful completion of the exam you will also receive a pin badge designating you as an Academy of Cheese Associate and a professional certificate suitable for framing.

Cancellations/Refunds

1. We do not provide refunds once you have completed a booking. All bookings are final. However if you are unable to attend you can reassign your booking to another person - please let us know. We require 14 days’ notice prior to original booking date.

2. We reserve the right to cancel the event at any point, in which case a full refund will be given.

3. We reserve the right to alter price of the course at any time.
