Join us at Lala Books in Camberwell for a discussion of Lolly Willowes by Sylvia Townsend Warner - a witchy, feminist classic that remains curiously underread. Hailed as a precursor to the feminist ideas in Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own, Townsend Warner’s novel is both whimsical and razor-sharp: a satire of postwar English society and the lingering grip of Victorian values. Subtitled The Loving Huntsman, it offers an unconventional, enduringly fresh exploration of womanhood, independence, and desire.
