QUIP European conference
Thu 26 May 2016, 10:00 – 16:00 BST
Quakers Uniting in Publications (QUIP) is an organisation that represents those working with the ministry of the spoken and printed word. Since QUIP was established in 1983, Quaker publishing, the publishing industry and the nature of QUIP membership have changed fundamentally.
This is the first meeting of the European branch of Quakers Uniting in Publications (EUQUIP). A day conference to bring together Friends from the UK and mainland Europe who are involved in the printed word, as an author, editor or publisher, including bloggers. It's an opportunity to share experience and explore the possibilities of working together. We want to extend the membership of Quakers in the UK and especially of Friends in Europe often working in isolation. In so doing we hope to increase subscriptions to help QUIP keep afloat. For many of us, QUIP plays an important role in gathering us to support and educate each other in our work.
We have booked the library at Westminster Quaker Meeting House, planning it for the eve of Britain Yearly Meeting, so that Friends travelling to London for that purpose might find it easier to attend. We hope that the day will give us the chance to get to know each other and what we might do together, with opportunities for small groups to meet and explore their particular concerns - as writers, editors or publishers. I will send out a more detailed plan for the day nearer the time.
The day is free, and there is a small bursary fund to enable young people and those from outside the UK to attend. I hope also that you will invite others that might be interested to join QUIP and to come to the conference.
