Description

This workshop is for doctoral students who are in the first year of their studies, or have not yet started writing their thesis.

The session will introduce students to the basics of writing a thesis, and important points to consider. It will also cover tips for getting started with writing, thinking about beginning a literature review, and show you how to find other example theses from your subject area.

Learning Outcomes

  • To understand what writing a thesis involves, and what the different sections of a thesis should cover
  • To learn tactics for starting writing and approaches to beginning a literature review
  • To know how to find other examples of similar doctoral research online

Don’t forget: if you would like extra support with your academic writing or can’t make a workshop, email skills@wlv.ac.uk to request a doctoral appointment.
