This workshop is for doctoral students who have written a few chapters of their thesis.

The session is for students who would like to improve their academic writing style, and learn to identify good and bad qualities in writing. It will also cover how to create structure and argument in a thesis, as well as how to work signposting and metadiscourse into your writing.  

Learning Outcomes

  • To understand the features of successful academic writing
  • To be able to identify good and bad writing practices and know how to improve a piece of writing
  • To understand how to create a clear structure in each chapter of your thesis, and across the thesis as a whole
