Learning Outcomes: In this session you will

  • Begin to gain an understanding of where to find resources and develop your knowledge of the types of information available
  • Find out where to get help regarding information needs, and how Learning and Information Services can support your learning
  • Understand the basics of the Wolverhampton Harvard referencing style, and be introduced to RefWorks reference management system
  • Be introduced to the concept and benefits of alerting systems

Activity to support Learning Outcomes:

  • Looking at the British Library’s EThOS repository of theses, and Proquest’s Dissertations & Theses collection
  • Finding research from the library catalogue (Summon) and the subject databases
  • Finding and using the Wolverhampton Harvard referencing guide, and setting up a RefWorks account
  • Setting up an alert from a database
