About this event

This training session as part of the RA CPD Programme for 2025/26 is a workshop on Bystander Intervention.

This training session will be led by staff fom the Guild of Students.

The session will last for 2 hours, and will take place in person at the Guild (room TBC closer to the time).

Please note, whilst this workshop is not mandatory training, it is training that we believe is beneficial to your RA role and we would strongly advise all RAs and PRAs who have not previously received Bystander Intervention training to attend. If you have previously attended Bystander Intervention training but would like to refresh your knowledge, please also feel free to attend.

Session overview:

The Bystander Intervention workshop aims to improve your knowledge and understanding of sexual misconduct, other types of misconduct and to encourage you to feel empowered to challenge it.

The session explores different approaches to intervention and looks at scenarios to explore barriers and enablers to the types of interventions available.

Increased knowledge of bystander intervention has shown to lead to reduced incidents, increased reporting and a culture where victims feel supported and empowered. As RAs, we see you as a key group to take part in the training. Becoming an active bystander can create a safer and more inclusive community that everyone is a part of.
