Friday 18 October 2019, 09:30-15:45
City Hall

On Friday 18th October 2019 Bristol will host a high profile and impactive Race Equality Conference at City Hall, College Green being delivered on a national scale by a range of key national leaders and renowned race equality keynote speakers.

Speakers already confirmed for the event include: Sir Simon Woolley (Founder/Director of Operation Black Vote and Chair of the Race Disparity Unit Advisory Group), Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith (Independent lead of the Race in the Workplace: McGregor-Smith review); members of the Cabinet Office and Race Disparity Unit; and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bristol. More national Race Equality leaders and national Government leaders will be announced.

This event will bring together 250 delegates made up of national government, regional and local strategic leaders as well as specialist practitioners from across all sectors. Key aims will be to establish lasting networks, sharing good practice and learning, discussing future opportunities and challenges faced as well as setting the future direction of travel for tackling Race Inequality across the city and further afield.

This exciting, wide reaching conference aims to be a first of its kind on this scale in the city. The event will build on the vast array of progressive multi agency initiatives already underway. A strong focus will be on sharing and showcasing programmes being run by agencies across the region set in the context of key note speeches from high profile national government departments and regional leaders presenting on the day.

The Conference will be held on the final day of the three-day Festival of the Future City which is also running in Bristol during the week.

The event is being coordinated by Bristol’s Race Equality Strategic Leaders group (RESLG) in partnership with the Commission on Race Equality, One City Office and the Cabinet Office’s Race Disparity Unit.

Refreshments will be provided, so please include details of any dietary requirements when you complete the booking form.
