De Montfort University Dubai proudly presents Race the Line – Engineer of the Future — an exhilarating Autonomous Line-Follower Robot Design Competition exclusively for high school students in the UAE.

This hands-on competition is designed to spark innovation, creativity, and teamwork, giving students a platform to explore robotics and engineering in a fun, challenging environment.

Participants will build a robot capable of following a line autonomously using onboard sensors. With mentorship, structured training, and provided kits, students will gain real-world experience in STEM and problem-solving — while competing for fantastic cash prizes.

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible to participate?

This competition is open to high school students in the UAE. Each school can nominate up to 2 teams (3 students per team).

Will robotics kits be provided?

Yes! All selected teams will be given a robotics kit by DMU Dubai to use for the competition.

Do participants need prior robotics knowledge?

Not at all. Teams will be supported by mentors and receive briefing and training to guide them through the build and programming process.

What is the robot expected to do?

Each team must design and build an autonomous robot that can follow a track using onboard sensors — no manual control allowed.

Are there any fees to participate?

No, participation is completely free.
