Event Details

How can the visual arts sector be better orientated towards young people?

Hosted by MK Gallery and including Victoria Mayes (MK Gallery), Helen Le Broq (OYAP & Arts Award trainer), Tom Loake (Lost & Found Mentor), and young people from Lost & Found, MK Gallery’s youth forum. The meeting will be followed by the preview of a project space exhibition by Lost & Found.

This event is free and includes lunch. Please book via Eventbrite as places are limited.

Part of a programme of 3 consultative events, organised by CVAN South East, the regional network for the contemporary visual arts, as part of its new initiative – RADAR.

RADAR is organised by CVAN South East and funded by Artswork South East Bridge

What is RADAR?
RADAR is a programme of research and activity that aims to enhance and develop cultural opportunities for children and young people in the South East by working in partnership with its key visual arts organisations.

RADAR will take a holistic view of visual arts organisations in the South East and their offer for children and young people, looking across programming, marketing and participation.

It will identify their capacity needs to facilitate and build knowledge, to achieve economies of scale and to strengthen joint working in the education and cultural sectors.

The voice of young people will be central to this process, which will embed Artsmark and Arts Award in the region and lead to a strategic development plan for the visual arts sector in the South East.

Whilst places are limited, we would welcome as broad a range of contributors as possible so please do invite colleagues from your organisation across departments as well as any from other sectors including education, local government and CYP sectors. Above all, we want to promote a dialogue that is both relevant and locally-based and inform the development of our strategic plan.

We look forward to seeing you.

Organiser

CVAN South East

We are an established network of visual arts organisations, active in the South East region since 2007. Initiated by Arts Council South East originally as Turning Point South East (TPSE), the network was developed through a consortium of its regularly funded visual arts organisations. As part of the national Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN) our primary objective is to support and strengthen the contemporary visual arts sector. In doing so, we are developing new ways of working across organisations, using distributed and collaborative models, and delivering projects that are informed by the needs of artists, visual arts organisations and their audiences.
