This session is part of a series of masterclasses that have been primarily designed and aimed at RADAR members. The basis of this session is to develop and improve situations that require the management of difficult conversations, whilst still achieving your objectives and maintaining important work relationships.

By the end of this session you will have learned four practical steps to enable you to address challenging issues and tackle potentially awkward situations. The course covers the following steps:

  • Understand the three styles of resistance.

  • Learn 4 key techniques that will address any style of questioning.

  • How to stay professional.

  • Think like a mediator.


You should attend this Masterclass if you are:

  • Recent unsuccessful applicants from the Ready Now and Stepping Up national programme.

  • Experiencing challenging workplace relationships.

  • Preparing to give a series of tough messages at work.

  • About to embark on a discussion about poor performance.

  • Uncomfortable about giving bad news.

  • About to announce a programme of change.

  • Interested in learning about key techniques that can be used when giving difficult messages.


You will also have the opportunity to:

  • Discuss and problem solve workplace case studies in small groups ( action learning sets)

  • Watch actors play scenarios
