This session is part of a series of Masterclasses that have been primarily designed and aimed at RADAR members. The aim of this session is to help delegates develop their knowledge and understanding of how to adopt more of a Coaching approach in their dealings with staff, either informally or in more formal settings.


By the end of this session you will have learned the differences between Coaching and Mentoring, the skills and benefits of adopting a Coaching approach and how to apply what you’ve learnt

The session will cover:

  • Definitions of Coaching and Mentoring

  • The key principles of Coaching

  • Essential skills for effective Coaching

  • The benefit to the organisation and how a Coaching approach fits with the Line Managers/Leaders role

  • GROW – a simple Coaching model

  • Coach skills practice


You should attend this Masterclass if you are:

  • Recently unsuccessful in your application for the Ready Now and Stepping Up national programme.

  • Wanting to broaden your ‘repertoire’ of Leadership styles

  • Interested in finding out how to help your direct reports really fulfil their potential

  • Currently either Coaching or Mentoring individuals in the organisation and wanting to reflect on areas for further development.


You will also have the opportunity to:

  • Experience a mix of theoretical input and lots of informal, interesting debate

  • Practice/develop your coaching skills in a safe, confidential environment

  • Receive feedback from colleagues and experienced Coach Tutors
