Radical Ideas to Transform Ofsted
Event Information
Description
This conference will NOT be an OFSTED-bashing event, but an opportunity for colleagues from primary, secondary and further education to offer constructive ideas to transform Ofsted. A new Framework for Inspection will be introduced in September 2019; so this is the time to present Ofsted with alternative models of inspection.
Speakers and Chairs:
Mike Kane MP, Shadow Minister of Education (Schools), will open the event 'What changes a Labour government would make to Ofsted’
Frank Coffield, UCL IOE, 'An Alternative Model of Inspection'
Melanie Ehren, UCL IOE, 'Ofsted and MATs: should we inspect MATs?'
Helena McVeigh, Director, G2G Education, former HMI of Schools 'Ofsted: a view from the frontline'
Joel Petrie, Founder member of Tutor Voices, doctoral researcher, University of Huddersfield.
Colin Richards, University of Cumbria 'Inspection Re-considered'
Paul Wakeling, Principal, Havering Sixth Form College 'The impact of inspection on students, staff and community.'
Sean Harford, HMI, National Director, Education, Ofsted will speak about 'Developing the education inspection framework for 2019' at the end of the proceedings.
There will be ample time for discussion in groups drawn from the three main sectors.
This conference is pitched to cover costs, not to make a profit. The cost includes a copy of Frank Coffield's new book – Will the Leopard Change its Spots? A new model of inspection for Ofsted – to all attendees. Coffee/tea on arrival, lunch, and tea at 4pm.
We look forward to seeing you at this conference.
