Event description

Description

Radio Lingua is a leading publisher of language courses for mobile devices including the award-winning Coffee Break French, German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese courses. Through our podcasts and strong presence on social media we strive to provide a high quality learning experience for a worldwide community of learners, delivering over 1 million language lessons every month. Our small team is based in Glasgow and we work with a local and remote team of native speakers and teachers to produce our courses.

We are continuing our Internship Programme for 2017-18 and we hope to build a team of Interns covering our five main languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish and Mandarin) who would undertake to work one full day or two half days per week from October 2017 until March 2018.

This Internship Programme is open to language students in the Central Belt. Please note that you must be studying one or more languages at undergraduate (3rd year onwards) or postgraduate level in a university in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Stirling and must be able to work AT LEAST ONE HALF DAY in our base in Glasgow City Centre most weeks. Interns would also be expected to attend monthly one-hour meetings at a mutually convenient time to be determined.

Please note that this is a paid Internship programme.

Our team of Interns would be involved in many areas of our work including content writing, social media marketing and customer support.

By taking part in this Internship, you would:

  • gain practical experience of working in a creative environment in a languages company;
  • learn about product design, development and publication;
  • acquire knowledge of marketing through social media;
  • have the opportunity to use your language skills and develop your written communication skills;
  • build first-hand experience of project management.

We require Interns who

  • are passionate about the importance of languages and opportunities that language skills create;
  • are native English speakers or have a native-speaker level;
  • have highly developed written and oral skills in one or more of French, German, Italian, Spanish or Mandarin (having more than one foreign language is preferred);
  • have spent at least one academic year or equivalent in the country where their principal foreign language is spoken;
  • are able to work independently and effectively manage time to fit work commitments around study commitments;
  • have a strong work ethic and be self-disciplined when working remotely;
  • are flexible and ready to work in a dynamic work environment when working in the office;
  • are eager to learn new skills and happy to take on feedback.

Please come along to find out more about the programme and meet the team. Click register to secure your spot. Please do not apply if you are not studying one or more languages at a university in the Central Belt. Places are limited at this information evening.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. One day per week represents a 7-hour working day.
  2. At least one half day (3.5 hours) must be worked at the Radio Lingua office within Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm.
  3. This is a paid Internship and Interns will be paid in line with the living wage.
