Description

To recognise Transgender Awareness Week [13-17 November], UK Athletics and Vercida are delighted to invite you to join us for an evening of discussions and networking about Transgender, hosted by UK Sport and Sport England and supported by scottishathletics, AthleticsNI, England Athletics and Welsh Athletics.

The evening is entitled ‘Raise the Bar’ because we want to raise the awareness of transgender issues, through open and honest conversations and explore the challenges transgender people face in society with audience participation and hearing the positive actions being taken by UK Athletics.

Donna Fraser, 4x Team GB Olympian and Vice President of UK Athletics, will chair the panel of individuals offering their own perspective on transgender; Joanne Lockwood is the First Openly Transgender Past National President of the 90-year-old “Men’s Club”, Katherine Conway, Head of Diversity & Inclusion and Community Affairs at AON, The Round Table; Jacqui Gavin the HR Diversity and Inclusion Lead at DIT and David Brown, UK Athletics Welfare Officer.

The schedule for the evening:

  • 6.00pm – 6.30pm Arrival and Networking reception with light refreshments
  • 6.30pm - 7.45pm Opening speech by Phil Smith, Director of Sport England;

Panel discussion chaired by Donna Fraser, with Joanne Lockwood, Katherine Conway, Jacqui Gavin and David Brown, followed by Q&A’s from the audience
