CPD accredited online training for professionals - learn how to improve the support you give to families of deaf children and young people.

About this Event

Are you a professional who wants to make a difference to deaf children and their families?

Join us at our upcoming online training to learn how to improve the support you provide to families of deaf children and young people.

The training is made up of 3 modules:

  • 1x e-learning module
  • 2x live workshops

You will be expected to complete all three modules to complete the training.

Training overview

Raising a deaf child can be challenging with many families needing guidance to help understand the impact deafness can have.

Our CPD accredited online training will give you a wealth of ideas and strategies to improve the way you support parents and carers. We use evidence-based strategies that deliver positive impact for families and deaf children.

This training provides you with the opportunity to practise new approaches. It is designed to teach you how to use our resource with parents and carers you support.

You will finish feeling inspired and confident to deliver our programme to the families you work with. We will provide you with all the plans, resources and evaluation tools you need. Enabling you to deliver and measure the impact of the programme.

Who is it for?

This online training is designed for all professionals working with families of deaf children and young people.

When will the two live workshops run?

The two live workshops will be hosted on;

  • Wednesday, 30 June 2021 // 2 - 3.30pm
  • Wednesday, 7 July 2021 // 2 - 3.30pm

Each live workshop will include a 1 hour workshop and an optional 30 minute Q&A.

Is the Raising a deaf child online facilitator training CPD accredited?

Yes, this online training is CPD accredited and will equate to 3 CPD hours / points, certified by CPD UK. Delegates who complete this training will receive a certificate of attendance.

Can we have the resources without attending the training?

As part of our quality assurance – the Raising a Deaf Child Facilitator Training resources are only available for those who have attended the training.

Can I join using any device?

You can access these workshops on any compatible device. We would recommend you join via your computer or laptop to fully contribute through the day. You can join using a phone or tablet if necessary, however we cannot guarantee that all of the functions will work on these devices.

Do I need to do any prep before attending the live workshop(s)?

Yes, you will need to complete the following two tasks prior to the first live workshop:

  • pre-event survey: a mandatory survey to gauge current confidence levels
  • e-learning module: a mandatory e-learning module that will take roughly 1 hour to complete.

Both of these will be available for completion on our online training hub, prior to the first live workshop. We will provide you with log in details closer to the event date, if you do not already have an account.

Do I need to book my own communication support?

No. We will have captions as standard, however if you require an interpreter please let us know and we will book it for you.

What if I need to cancel?

If you are unable to attend and need to cancel your place, please contact us at training@ndcs.org.uk. Refunds will be available as below.

If you cancel:

  • 7 working days or less before the planned date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost
  • 8-14 working days before the planned date, you will be charged 50% of the total cost
  • 15 working days before the planned date, you will not be charged.

Do I need to be a member?

No, however if you'd like to become a professional member you can join for free. Our membership allows you to join our community of professionals who are supporting deaf children, young people and their families throughout the UK. If you are unsure whether or not you are a member of NDCS, please contact training@ndcs.org.uk and one of the team can confirm.

Can I give my place to a friend or colleague if I can't come?

Yes, however you must notify us in advance, at least 3 days before the workshop takes place via training@ndcs.org.uk.

Can I share my log in details with a friend of colleague to join?

No. The log in details are for 1 person only.

There will be a registration period prior to the start of the event where we will be checking the name of those entering against the delegate list (names of those registered to the purchased tickets).

If your name does not feature on the list, you will not be allowed entry to the workshop.
