About this Event

Please be advised that we have cancelled all events until further notice, following recent developments with the coronavirus in the UK. We will continue to monitor developments and follow up-to-date government guidance. We aim to hold training events as planned in Autumn 2020 where possible (subject to government guidance). Raising a deaf child can be challenging with many families needing guidance to help understand the impact deafness can have.

Our one-day workshop will give you a wealth of ideas and strategies to improve the way you support parents and carers.

Workshop Overview

We use evidence-based strategies that deliver positive impact for families and deaf children.

This workshop provides you with the opportunity to practise new approaches. It is designed to teach you how to use our resource with parents and carers you support.

You will leave this workshop feeling inspired and confident to deliver our programme to the families you work with. We will provide you with all the plans, resources and evaluation tools you need. Enabling you to deliver and measure the impact of the programme.

• The emotional impact of parenting a deaf child on parents’ confidence and self-esteem

• Developing good communication in families and with professionals

• Raising self-esteem, resilience and confidence in parents and children

• Behaviour management techniques

Who is it for?

This workshop is designed for all professionals working with families of deaf children and young people.

How much does it cost?

This is a full day workshop, costing £95. You can select which date you would like to attend when booking: 13 May 2020, 21 October 2020, or 18 March 2021.

Who is the course for?

Professionals working with families of deaf children and young people.

Do I need to book my own communication support?

No - please let us know what communication support you require and we will book it for you.

How much does it cost?

£95 per delegate, payable via credit/debit card, cheque and invoice.

Do I need to do any prep before attending?

No, however we do ask that you complete a pre-course survey before attending, which will be sent to you before the event.

What are my transport options for getting to and from the event?

The event will be hosted at the NDCS head office in London. The nearest underground station is Old Street; a 5 minute walk away.

Car parking

There are no car parks directly on site. You can find information about local car parking here.

Is lunch provided?

Please note that lunch is not provided. Delegates will be asked to bring their own lunch or make use of any local cafes. Refreshments, such as tea, coffee and water will be available.

Can I give my place to a friend or colleague if I can't come?

Yes, however you must notify us in advance, at least 5 days before the workshop takes place via training@ndcs.org.uk

Can I book a place without a purchase order number?

Yes, please indicate that a PO number is to be provided, e.g. enter ‘to be confirmed’ when completing the registration form above as an answer to the question about a purchase order number – as soon as the PO number has been approved, please email training@ndcs.org.uk or call 0121 234 9820 with the details and we can ensure it is added to the invoice. If you need our bank details in order to set NDCS up as a supplier on your finance system, again please contact us and we can do this for you.

What if I need to cancel?

If you cancel:

• 20 working days or less before the planned date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost

• 21 - 30 working days before the planned date, you will be charged 50% of the total cost

• 31 working days before the planned date, you will not be charged.
