Raising Achievement for your Lowest Attaining Children: Jean Gross

The Oxford Expert Speaker Programme brings the best known experts in education to events across the UK to share new ways of thinking about teaching and learning.


Jean Gross‘s career in education as a teacher, an educational psychologist, author and an adviser to government is all about children who don’t have much going for them in their lives, and need extra support and help.

Registration and Welcome

Session 1: What works for low attaining children including children from low income backgrounds.

This session looks at factors which make the most difference to low attaining children:

  • Tackling language and literacy difficulties
  • Increasing parental support for learning
  • Increasing children’s self-belief and aspirations



Session 2: Developing Effective School and Classroom Practice


Who should attend?

Subject leaders, Literacy Coordinators and Senior Leader Team.

How many places are available?

Two places per school.
