Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Here's where the passion for this event lies. For Moms, Teen Girls and Those Who love them. Body Image struggles are real. Ever heard those lies that say 'you are not good enough', 'you are not beautiful', 'you can't fit in'? I have heard them! I have been privileged to counsel and converse with girls who struggle with it.

Surprisingly, many struggle in teen years carry it over and barely cope even as adults, wives and now, moms.

Please note, it is not enough to say..'You are beautiful'. It barely scratches the surface of the issue.

1. If more moms can find healing themselves, then our daughters will have more confidence in who they are.

2. An in-secured mom will unknowingly pass her fears, insecurity and lack to her girl-child. Find healing as a mom. Walk and work out of your fears and insecurities. Be the hero your girl needs.

3. Dear moms, addressing these issues early would prevent our girls from seeking external validation to accept their bodies. For it is in seeking approval they walk into the corridors of harm and needless errors.

4. More young girls will achieve more when they learn to be content.

5. Please reinforce thoughtful responses and give concrete definitions of beauty. Let's teach girls that true beauty lies within and it is more than facial, tight curves, catwalks and fancy dresses.

6. Let's teach our girls to see themselves beyond the reflection of the mirror. They are worth more than physiques or objects of comfort for temporary admiration.

7. Please teach their girls to carry themselves with poised value to be treasured. Humble in heart, strong and courageous. Show them the value of modesty in a world where it's becoming a thing of the past.

8. Parents can focus on individual gifts and strengths and teach our kids to place value on 'who' rather than 'what'. Teach them to place value on people, attitudes, life skills and growth instead of keeping up with appearances.

9. Parents especially moms, should avoid unnecessary comparisons with other kids. You may lose your child's heart when you drive them to be like others.

10. Learn to develop interests that are of personal and social benefits including music, sports etc or committing to a cause that brings change.

11. Every child thrives in a supportive environment. Encourage and support little steps taken towards achieving their dreams. Find ways to engage their minds to explore meaningful projects. With hands busy, the mind is free from idleness.

12. Encourage sportsmanship.
