Event description

Description

What’s included in the programme? This programme uses materials provided by the Education Endowment Foundation for Humanities and Science subjects. It is designed to raise attainment in Humanities and Science subjects by providing teachers and curriculum leaders with a deeper understanding of how to teach and plan for proficient use of academic language. It will help to secure stronger outcomes for 11-18 pupils, especially the disadvantaged and pupils with EAL. The training is structured using these questions: 1. What does academic language look like and how do we assess proficiency? 2. How do we teach competent academic language, e.g. verbs for sequencing, deducing and reasoning? 3. How do we teach fluent academic language, e.g. using noun phrases to conceptualise succinctly? 4. Lesson planning: how will you apply this to your planning for curriculum and assessment?
