Course R2025/05 (Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse):
This face-to-face course is delivered in one x 2.5-hour session. There is no pre or post work but there will be an evaluation form for you to complete to assist with development of these sessions.
It will be delivered by our Independent Trainers Jill Webb and Jo Van Lachterop.
Aim: To enable participants to engage thoughtfully and pro-actively with the issue of Domestic Abuse, and those effected, in a Church context.
Learning Outcomes:
· Identify the typologies of domestic abuse an survivor groups.
· Explore myths, barriers, stereotypes and impacts of domestic abuse particularly in a faith context.
· Reflect on how your own beliefs and values and, the stories and narratives that they bring, impact on your responses to survivors and perpetrators.
· Evaluate the needs of domestic abuse survivors to support them effectively, including referral pathways and the roles of supporting agencies.
· Identify safeguarding actions to protect victims or those at risk whilst also understanding the limitations and boundaries of your role.
Pre- Requisites: Before completing this training, you should have current safeguarding training to Foundation level or above.
Refreshments: Tea, Coffee and biscuits will be available. PLEASE ARRIVE AT 4.15PM FOR REFRESHMENTS FOR A 4.30PM START. Please feel free to bring a packed tea as a meal is not provided.
