This price* is for the 9-day tour of Rajasthan. For the 1-day and/or 2-days extension, please enquire (or read the event description above). Rajasthan-born, London photographer, Sapna Dhandh-Sharma is offering this one-of-its-kind experience of Rajasthan.

SDS Photography is teaming up with its sister company V Care Tours, Jaipur, that has been successfully running tours to India for the last 18 years.

"Cultural Immersion Photography Journey" - is a London-Jaipur joint venture, put together for the discerning traveller-photographer.

It combines photography with the opportunity to immerse in the culture of the place because of the host's innate knowledge of the region, its dialect and the traditions.

Born and bred in Rajasthan, she's lived in London since 1991, frequently travelling to India, documenting the region.

Read the following for the highlights of the journey and the entire itinerary and the costs:

 

Rajasthan:

  • the largest state in India

  • culturally and traditionally vibrant

  • desert state, with camel, sand and lots of colour

  • home to the Aravalli Mountains - the oldest and longest fold mountains in the world

  • land of the maharajas, beautiful palaces, havelis, forts and temples

  • with Hindu (Rajput) and Mughal architecture in perfect harmony and juxtaposition

  • Indigo dyeing and bandhani textile at the heart of the tradition

Agra:

  • a few hours car's drive from Jaipur

  • loads of photography opportunity

Bagru 1-day workshop:

  • a place for those who want to see the process of vegetable dyeing and block printing by the traditional Chhippa community 

  • community of textile printers, using vegetable dyes

  • workshops run to show the process

  • all participants get to print their own scarf (material provided)

  • plenty of street photography opportunity in the village 

  • enjoy simple meal cooked by the host Chhippa family

9-days, 10-days and 11-days trip – Starts and ends at Jaipur (Sanganer International Airport).

Travellers are expected to have some knowledge of using their cameras. There will be ongoing advice on travel photography.

*The following prices are based on twin-sharing basis:

(Minimum 6 people, maximum 10)

  • 9-day trip – £1495

  • Extension Agra: £195 (extra)

  • Extension Agra + Bagru: £330 (extra)

 

Those who are not travelling with a partner, or are simply not comfortable about sharing a room, and would like their own room, can pay extra for having an individual room at an extra cost.

Extra cost for non-sharing rooms: To be added to the price above.

  • 9-day trip – £450 (extra)

  • 10-day trip – £500 (extra)

  • 11-day trip – £550 (extra)

Please note:

  • Payment: TransferWise (for non-UK clients). Electronic Transfer (UK clients). Email for payment details.

  • No refunds as we book in advance for the hotel, guides, car or van hire, and the workshop. So please be completely certain before making the payment.

  • Flights should be booked by you as soon as possible as they become pricier if left too late.

  • Any internal flights or journey is the guest’s own responsibility. But any advice needed for that is on offer.

  • Please get yourself travel (medical including) insurance.

  • Host takes no responsibility for any lost items, or any other expenses occurred to due to the guest’s negligence.

  • Guests to bring comfortable clothing and shoes to walk. You will not need any waterproof clothing at this time of the year. But, protective footwear is advisable. A warm jacket or jumper and scarves for cooler nights will be good. Please email for further information.

  • Every attempt will be made to make the stay as comfortable as possible, provide clean water and food, clean accommodation, plus advice and guidance.

  • Host speaks the dialect of the region + English fluently, so you will not never an interpreter

She enjoys Travel, Documentary, Street Photography and Environmental Portraits. She also writes, as the lead editor, a photography magazine. She has recently launched a programme for children and young people to learn life-skills through the practice of photography.
