Privacy Notice - COVID-19 Testing

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC)

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) (who has commissioned the COVID-19 testing programme on behalf of the UK) will act as data controller for the information that you provide to them on the day of your appointment to enable testing to take place (this will include registration with the NHS Test and Trace service, test swab analysis and communicating your test results back to you).

The University of York will not have access to the information that you input into the NHS registration portal on the day of your test.

The National Track and Trace programme will share the results of your test with you directly. Your results will not be shared with the University.

The University of York will act as data controller for the information gathered as part of the online appointment booking and the check in process on the day of the test.

What is our legal basis for processing your data?

By booking an appointment and taking a test you are providing your consent for processing to both of the organisations named above. Your consent can be freely withdrawn at any time. Your test appointment can be cancelled online via Eventbrite (check your booking confirmation for details).

Data security

Appointment data will be stored securely on University approved systems and accessible only to those staff involved in assisting in the operation of the testing site.

Data retention

The University will hold appointment data until the closure of the onsite testing facility, at which point it will be securely deleted.

Data sharing

The University will share your appointment data under contract with Eventbrite who will process data on behalf of the University to support it in fulfilling its obligations and responsibilities to and relationship with you.
