Event description
Birds of prey (raptors) are iconic to our landscape across Scotland, learn more about them with this free training event!

About this Event

Did you know that white-tailed eagles can have a wingspan of up to 8 feet long? Or that in Spring, red kites are surprisingly lightweight, weighing much less than even a mallard duck? If learning more about our incredible raptors excites you, join us for this free training day!

Led by Rick Taylor from the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project, this event is targeted for beginners and will include an indoor learning session covering topics such as species identification and ecology. In the afternoon, we'll take a walk through the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park and see if we have the opportunity to put your new skills to the test! After discussing the importance of wildlife recording throughout the day and practicing it for yourselves, you’ll not only have a fun day out but can complete this course knowing you have the tools to continue recording when you’re out and about. Furthermore, we hope this event will help build confidence in raptor identification and a sense of appreciation for the incredible birds of prey that soar our skies.

Please were suitable outdoor clothing, including waterproofs, and remember to bring your lunch with you! Note that light refreshments can be purchased in the centre.

We look forward to seeing you there!
