Raspberry Pi Foundation Online Code Club
Event Information
About this Event
Code Club provides free projects and resources to help educators and volunteers support young people with digital making skills. Our clubs usually run in schools however due to Covid-19, a lot of these have paused. We would, therefore, like to offer your children an opportunity to code with someone after school.
We will focus on coding with Scratch and there will be a variety of projects available for different confidence levels.
I will be on hand with a colleague, to welcome you and your children and support them online. All club leaders have been fully DBS checked.
Who is the session for?
- Young people aged 8 and over.
- Young people with an interest in learning to code.
What do you need to know before you sign up?
- Scratch is a free drag-and-drop software programme. You may use the online version in a web browser or download an offline version. In order to save your child's work, you will need to create an account on Scratch if they haven't got one already. Creating an account is free.
- Please read through our safeguarding policy.
- Please be present with your child during the session. You do not have to take part (unless you'd like to of course!), but we'd like them to be in an open environment in the home so that you can hear the conversation.
- We will be using Google Hangouts and I will share details with you the morning of the session.
- I will be inviting the children to share their screen in order to share their progress with their peers. This will be a voluntary option.
- I would love for your children to share their work with me. To do this, you'll need to share the project on Scratch first (share button on the bottom of the project page) after which you can copy the project link and email me on rohima@raspberrypi.org. Or tag us on Twitter @codeclub using the hashtag #MyCodeClub.
If you have any questions before the session, please get in touch by email to rohima@raspberrypi.org.
Kind regards
