Event description

Description

This hands-on workshop will offer an insight into the technology behind the Wolcott web cams. Come along and see what you can achieve by using the Pi to live stream content. This workshop is aimed at those with some previous experience of the Raspberry Pi, but all levels are welcome.

A White House on Paradise Street places small camera devices around the city in locations relevant to key moments and events in the early history of photography in Birmingham. The devices have been constructed in mahogany by a master cabinetmaker to resemble the Wolcott Daguerreotype camera patented in 1840. They have then been modified using a Raspberry Pi micro computer, enabling the devices to live-stream images from inside the back of the cameras into the gallery space at BOM and online.

Please note: You will be provided with a Raspberry Pi to use during the workshop.

This event is part of Developed in Birmingham, a season of exhibitions, events and activities celebrating early photography in the city which runs from 15 June until 3 September 2017. www.developedinbirmingham.com
