RATS - Confessions of a Teenage Junkie at the Beecroft Art Gallery
Join us on Saturday, 4th October, for a special evening celebrating - and commiserating - Southend’s very own Junk Club (2002-2006) birthplace of The Horrors and a catalyst for the Southend Scene.
An evening of sonic delights to amaze and astound your nocturnal senses, focusing on the iconic installation created by Ciaran O’Shea and Dean Chalkley, as part of the Thames Group exhibition titled 'The Scene By The Sea' currently running at The Beecroft Gallery until October 27th.
There will be a visionary attack for the eyes with a short film screening, an audio onslaught for the ears with a very special secretive live musical performance, and proprioception for all senses with a Q&A panel made up of Junk’s finest - Promoters Rhys Webb (The Horrors), Oliver Abbott, Ciaran O'Shea and photographer Dean Chalkley.
The Q&A will be moderated by Joe Daniel - Angular Records label founder, founding member of The Violets and all round cultural catalyst!
Plus, the age-old standard proceedings: music from Southend’s club past, along with a collection of drinking materials.
Arrive 5pm prompt.
You have been warned.
